A harmonious blend of 2 pounds of Shroomability straw pellets and 3 pounds of water yields the perfect 5-pound substrate block. For an optional enhancement, consider incorporating food-grade lime and gypsum powder into the mix.
It’s important to pasteurize the substrate before using it. Place the pellets in a large mixing bowl, pour boiling water over them, stir, and cover the bowl. Let it sit for one hour. Once hydrated and pasteurized, the straw is ready to use—either mix it with spawn or inject liquid culture directly into your substrate container.
